We enjoyed Celeste Sails to Spain by Alison Lester in our PJ's by the fire.
L was at preschool having a pyjama day of his own. He was happy to come home and find everyone over at his place in their PJ's and ready to play!

Australia Day!
Hapy Australia Day!
We turned our house into "Australia" for the day. The learning room became our "beach" where the kids lazed under beach umbrellas reading. We made granny's Pumpkin Scones, and had sandwiches for lunch. Even a little Vegemite. (Ok that was mostly only me.) I explained a bit about the flag, we flew it today, and we sang a little, made some collages and after lunch walked over Blythes house. The weather was so sunny! I heart Blythe's short hair cut!

This is one of the editorials from today's star. Pity that the only chance of the bill passing now is for some senator to be gutsy enough to tack it onto something they know will pass. Sigh.

Wednesday
Today L had preschool, K had violin. Nothing too exciting. We worked on her Math U See a little. Explored a new health food grocery that just opened.
Tommorow is Australia Day!

Advocacy Day

Advocacy Day

Advocacy Day
Tuesday we got a lot done. I opened our house to anyone who wanted to come and write advocacy letters to our elected officials about the midwives bill, HB1237. At one stage we had four computers going including Jenny's laptop, and the mama's took turns writing letters and watching each other's children. K and L played and invented intricate games with the Playmobil.
In the evening K and I went with Rachael, G and her K downtown to the People's Agenda Town Hall meeting held at the state house. The people in attendence sat on the floor of the House of Representatives, while the elected officials sat in the balcony and listened to all we had to say. Three people spoke about the Certified Professional Midwives legislation. Then we went for hot chocolate on the circle to celebrate! K did well for an hour and a half. Better than some of the elected officials who seemed to be getting fidgety toward the end there!

Monday
We book clubbed today at Tia Justyn's house. The book chosen was from the American Girl series, it was the first of the Josephina books. We read it all last week, K really liked it. I couldn't help myself, I checked the whole series out and read it myself over the course of the week. : )
Justyn also hosted Alpha Art, and lunch, and let the girls have a "slumber party upstairs" while the younger set made incredible messes downstairs.
I have organized to have people over tommorow for letter writing for the cause of the midwife we are in support of. The whole issue keeps getting more and more frustrating.
