Happy Birthday to the daddy of the house!
Today we had fun doing what daddy wanted to do..... we went downtown and saw the
Roving Mars IMAX movie. Wow that was so cool. K loved it and came up with a zillion great questions that we wil have to research a little. L enjoyed it also, he sat glued to his seat the whole time. Then it was off to the circle for Hot Chocolate in the snow!

Rainy Candlemas Day

May I just say that WellSpring Winter Camp 2006 is going to be way too much fun for the one simple week we are trying to cram it all into!! : )
Yes indeedy, today the WellSpring mama's met at Rachael's to finalize plans for Winter Camp. Will and several rotating mama's watched the kiddo's while we organized upstairs. Oh, the fun we have planned!! I mean, I really can't wait for camp. : )
I also had a Midwifery Task Force meeting, planning for the State House rally in late Feb. Then off to violin lesson with K. K says "It was very good. Because I did a good lesson. That's all"
Underneath is K practising. She seemed quite nervous to be playing for my blog, but you can kind of hear it's Twinkle Twinkle.
We enjoyed a quiet day today..... we read some Chinese folk tales and then we did a workshop about writing our own folk tale. K's tale is a story of A Girl and the Octopus. : ) A girl goes to the beach and makes friends with an octopus.
We ran a zillion errands today. K did a bit of her own banking.
Rob is starting with bees this spring, and I am doing more reading about urban chickens. I have wanted chickens for a loooong time. : )
Story Time

Today we celebrated with WellSpring learning co-op. We welcomed everyone over to our house, and had story time, craft time, food time and firecracker time! AnnaB was co-hosting with me, we had worked out the fun details of what to do together, and we had a blast! K and L and I have been reading about Chinese New Year, learning all about it. It was fun to celebrate with our friends and learn a little about another culture.
We're going to do a few bits of work deepening the learning about Chinese New Year, and following up with what we have done already. We read two different versions of the Ballad of Fa Mulan, and followed it with watching the Disney version on Friday. (K and L also enjoyed watching a chunk of it again in Mandarin and subtitles!) We talked a little about ballads, and the idea of myth. I have some more Chinese folk tales to read, and then we will work on writing our own folk tale. : )
We have also talked a bit about the Great Wall of China. I have all the blocks and lego set up in one corner with some pictures and info, so K and L can work on building their own great wall.
