Went to the Indiana Home Educators Association conference today....
This year I didn't go to any workshops, it didn't fit into my schedule, lots going on at the moment. I did get a chance to take this afternoon to walk around the vendors hall though. Phew, that was enough by itself. It's so crazy-big, to see that many people, hundreds and hundreds of people, all smooshed into these booths selling everything from books, microscopes, water colour supplies, pianos, owl pellets, CD's, more books.... woa. There were lots of reps from many curriculum companies, which was good to see. Also a lot of colleges from all over the place, telling you about how much they love homeschoolers. And lots of free chocolate, and mints. Nice!
I was just happy to buy a few things I was needing, and absorb the fact that I was one of many hundred people who happened to be there on a Friday afternoon. All home schoolers. It felt great!

By searching the tags on Flickr we were able to see more and better photos of his work, both here in Indy, and his work all over the world!
While we were there yesterday there were several people with cameras and tripods and no kids, just taking photos of this sculpture in the sunlight.

Where were we again Wednesday?

The top of the sculpture....

The Children's Museum again! We missed the art work so much, we had to go again!
This time I remembered my camera!
We have been learning a lot about glass this week.

Handprints at the house.....

Handprints at the house.....
Originally uploaded by annamaren.

On our spring walk, we checked on the hand-prints the kids made on the patching job that was done on the path to the front door.
I love this. I have memories of making handprints in the cement of our playset on Laurel St. : ) I loved matching my handprint as I grew......

Chihuly at the Children's Museum......
Well, first day of spring was on Monday and we went outside for all of 10 minutes, it was so cold! We welcomed spring, and came right back inside!
We were meant
In the afternoon we went over the Children's Museum to check out the new Dale Chihuly sculpture-Fireworks of Glass- I thought it would be so crowded, but we just couldn't wait. It was so awesome!!! K was so excited when she saw it for the first time, she fell on the floor, literally! Also we were intrigued by the Hot Glass Roadshow parked outside the Children's Museum, where artists from the Corning Museum of Glass were blowing glass and creating the most beautiful art, telling us all about it while they worked. They are here until June.
We met up with friends serendipitously- 4 of the 5 Dollars, and Andrea with her two little ones. A and K played in the Chihuly exhibit and had a great time working together making some fun art that I couldn't take photos of because I forgot my camera.

podcasting fun.....
We went ahead and bought and ipod, I used some of my baby-wearing money for it, and K helped me pick one out. I am reading Podcasting Solustions, and waiting for the microphone I ordered to begin shipping.
In the meantime, here are a couple of podcasts I have found fun. You can download and listen on your computer regardless of whether you have an ipod or other MP3 player.....
http://www.storynory.com - a podcast with a new fairy tale every week or so. Hans Christian Anderson style fare. Told with by a Brit actor with a Brit accent- somehow mkaing it more fun!
http://www.doctorfloyd.com/ - a podcast with history and time travel and evil villains attempting to sell historical artifacts on ebay.....
http://www.podictionary.com/ - a word a day, interesting etymology....
http://www.spoonfulofrussian.com - we learned how to say hello for when we call Uncle Justin!
http://www.mpsomaha.org/willow/index.html - we listened to a podcast or two from the 1st and 2nd graders....
I am getting more great podcasts from itunes and Podcast Alley.
