L wanted to eat the big fat raindrops that we had during one storm. He was so funny about it!
Fairy Math.
Originally uploaded by annamaren. We got started on Fairy Math today, with F and G along for the fun. I have started it, with inspiration from the Go Math that my mum sent me, and a desire to make the Math U See more fun, and practical.
Basically it's going to be a running story about the fairies that live at the bottom of the garden, and it goes hand in hand with the Math U See that we are currently working on. We will also be adding concepts, and placing concepts in practical contexts. As far as fairyland can be considered a practical contextual application!! : )
The table man mixes the molten glass together.
Originally uploaded by annamaren.Building on our learning about glass, today we joined our WellSpring friends on a trip to the Kokomo Opalsecent Glass Factory.
Wow, it was so much fun! The factory was founded in 1888, and they make opalescent glass that is used all over the world. Louis Tiffany and Frank Lloyd Wright both used KOG factory glass.
It's made today in basically the same way it was 100 years ago, and we got to watch today!
In the photo above the table man mixes the molten glass together before it gets rolled out.
