Originally uploaded by annamaren.Today was a beautiful day of Indian Summer. We had friends come and help us enjoy the sunshine and rake some leaves and have some fun in the wheel-barrow too!
As you can see in the photo, we have plenty of leaves on the ground that need to be collected for the compost bin!
K had a baby tooth that was in the way of some adult teeth trying to grow in, and today was the day that it came out! She was braver than I was.
It was done and she was fine- came home ate some soup and we headed out for Violin then Spanish.
When I say she is braver than me, I am really not kidding. I am not fond of the dentist, I would have come home and wanted to spend the afternoon on the couch. She wanted to show her tooth to her friends!
Hey look left, it's a new KindleSeed feature!
Notice the tab "reading"? It links to the page I filled with my library list from
Library Thing. I am loving Library Thing a lot, it's kind of like Flickr for books. Sort of.
Anyway, it will definatly help me keep track of the books we have read as a family, and to tag certain books for different unit studies, and find recomendations from people who enjoyed the books we did, etc etc.
Also, it's fun to share what we are reading! I love to be able to share a good book.
K asks Rob questions, because she knows he takes her very seriously.
I take her seriously too, but I know she enjoys quiet questioning time with daddy when he puts her to bed.
One of this evenings questions .....
"Is there such a thing as an-brothers since we have an-sisters?" K had been hearing the word "ancestors" and interpreting it as an-sisters.
Rob to his credit, never laughs, but simply takes up the thought and answers to the best of his ability. I love that man. And I *love* that little girl.
Last week was quite a busy one for us, and the upcoming weeks are looking pretty full too!
It feels like this is just how the days are weaving together for November- full and almost overflowing. I like full days, but too many in a string together can be fraying.
Which is why I might go to bed now instead of finishing the document for WellSpring Fall camp I was working on!
Royal Drummers of Burundi
Originally uploaded by annamaren. On Friday I took F and K to see the Royal Drummers of Burundi, with Mombassa Party. The drummers were amazing. *Amazing*
They walked onstage with their drums on their heads, and they were playing them!! (these were 20-40 kg drums) They had 10 drums alltogether, and 12 performers, so they were always rotating dancers and drummers, and at times had all 12 playing at once.
The performance was tight- every drummer matched every other drummer perfectly.
The girls seemed really into it, which was fun. I love that we are able to connect with drumming in so many different ways, and that K is getting a strong grounding in rythym in all the ways we include drumming into our homeschooling. My djembe is always out, and I can use it like a metronome for her violin practice!
