Dancing to the Drums of West Africa
Originally uploaded by annamaren. We had a multi-cultural kind of day today! We went downtown to City Market to see Drums of West Africa play the lunchtime concert today!
On the way home we noticed a Mexican Bakery that I have never seen before, and we went in to check it out and walked out with a variety of things to taste. We couldn't quite tell what they were, but in the spirit of adventure we each picked out something that looked good, and then shared with each other when we got home.

This place is so amazing, it's been in operation since 1888, and they make glass the same way today as they did back then. Over the years they have supplied Tiffany, and Frank Lloyd Wright as well as many other people and companies with beautiful glass. Because they have been making glass for so long, they are often able to match antique glass for restoration projects. They make glass for stained glass artists all over the world.... and it's all so stunning!
Last year when we went we were in the middle of a unit of study about glass, this time we kind of went for the fun of it, and both times we learned something new, and observed the process with wide open eyes!
