L at the Art Museum.

L at the Art Museum.

While K had Strings camp this week, L and I have been having some fun morning play-time together!

I have to give a shout out to the new and improved Indianapolis Museum of Art. L loves the place. There has been a lot of change there over the last past 2 years, including a phase of time where they charged what I believed to be a kind of costly sum for admission. They are back to being a free museum now, with a small charge for the special exhibits. (As they used to be, before the renovations took place.)

Now post-renovation it is a most magical place to visit. The lighting is beautiful, the galleries are grouped very intuitively and it's a very friendly feeling place.

The thing that I adore though, is that there are spaces here and there throughout the place, that seem to be "gathering" type places. Near the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works, there is a group of couches. The couches surround a few coffee tables, which are laden with books about the style and period. So L and I sat and read a Children's Book about the time that Guagain and Van Gogh spent together in Arles, and then we went and looked at some of the collection of Guaguin and Van Gogh, and looked at a map to find out where Arles is. It's so well thought out!

(side note, I just looked at the time. Only a few more hours until Harry Potter. Chocolate or caffeine anyone?!)

We've had a busy week with Strings Camp. I am trying to figure out a way to post the sound files I took at the performance today. They sound so fab!

K at Strings Camp.

K at Strings Camp.

Another busy week! This week is Strings Camp for K! A musical week of fun for young players of the string family instruments.
K is having so much fun, and getting so much out of this week, it's fun to watch her. And the super-fun activities they are doing?! They look so cool, I kind of wish I could go to strings camp. Maybe on down the road if L picks up a stringed instrument I can go as a counselor.

Right now he wants to play the accordian or the trumpet though. Thank you very much They Might Be Giants.
