We are getting out the vote here at Kindleseed. We're hosting some elections- who would you vote to come and baby sit at your house for a week?

Mrs. Smith
Allows 2 pieces of candy after every meal
Makes children go to sleep at 7:30 pm every night
Favorite color is pink
Makes you clean your room every day
Takes children to the park every day

Mrs. Clark
Never allows candy in the house

Has the biggest rollercoaster

Is the most expensive, but has more rides
Opens in the afternoon, and closes at midnight.

We have declared 2008 the Summer of Super Heroes! We talked about what a hero is, what are the things that makes a person a hero..... and then K selected some people that we learned about..... Sacagawea, Ruby Bridges, Teddy Roosevelt, (she picked him!) and a few others that I can't remember off the top of my head.....
So we are continuing our summer learning by including learning about heroes on an ongoing basis.

Jnr Master Gardener!
K is doing Jnr Master Gardener again this year..... she loved it last year, and so did I! Every week she came home with interesting knowledge about gardening. Eventually she learned more than I know about gardening, I think I will join L if he would like to do it next year too!
She is sharing a plot with her friend F this year.

The WellSpring families have been fans of our friends BluePrint Music for years now. We love going to see their live shows, and it's such family friendly good fun. They played the ArtsGarden a few weeks ago, and most of WellSpring showed up for it!

This year we have been kept busy with swarm calls, but as Jamie and I are both helping, it's felt pretty manageable for Rob hopefully.
The kids are really good about coming along to pick-up a swarm.
K has claimed a swarm that went to friends in Zionsville, she will help me manage the hive in my friend Kelly's beautiful garden!

When K was in a preliterate stage, we had a whole words learning environment, I had everything labeled with little word tags, magnetic poetry, etc etc.... I just got the Magnetic Poetry out for L, and will be starting to tag things. So once again we will have a dishwasher that says "dishwasher" etc......

So we've gotten hooked on tennis this spring!
I had been thinking of introducing a fun sport that the whole family could enjoy, a team sport..... and we kind of fell into tennis as a fun option!
K is loving it, and L is too. There are awesome courts at the park just down the road from our house, we go when we can. This summer K will have classes as part of an Indy Parks/ National Junior Tennis League program!
(Oh, and it's good exercise for the mama!)

Trying to keep up with the homeschooling blog....only a month behind- sheesh!
So going all the way back to April..... We wrote some love notes to Indianapolis and went around downtown putting them in places where people would find them! (inspired nby www.HopeRevo.Com)
It made some handwriting into a fun adventure. : )

We went to the library at Butler specifically to play with the Magnetic Poetry they always have out for National Poetry month. They have heaps of interesting and fun sets of poetry and the kids had fun leaving some on the magnetic board there!

This is the new space in our house- the computer desks are all at the same height, I have space for the lap-top, the printer sits on a shelf by itself..... the kids have decent chairs.... it all works very well!

OK, I just realized how long it had been since I posted on the blog. ("Random and Unreliable", I should just take Emily's old blog tag!)
In the early stages of Spring, I had a fit of re-organizing and re-decorating, and completely re-did the learning room in our house. It's the room with the computers and the shelves full of stuff. We painted and re-arranged and generally made everything much easier to use. We all love it!

After the St Patrick's Day parade was over, we walked past a policeman who was guarding a closed street. It looked like he might have been one of the policemen from the stunt-bike part of the parade, so we went over to talk to him, and he very sweetly answered questions, and invited the kids to sit on his bike!
I have learned so much in our home schooling adventures simply by being open to each moment, by talking to people and learning that way. Of course this is something I seem to do naturally, but it's so much fun to learn about the world with the kiddos like this.

Brrrr! The parade watchers are a little chilly!

St Patrick's Day 2008! My kids *love* a good parade as much as I do, so there was no helping it, we bundled up and went downtown for the annual St Paddy's Day Parade! Here they are with their friend A whose sister was in the parade with her Irish Dancing School!
